Peter's Career Horoscopes (week beginning 9th January)

Your career horoscope for the week beginning 9th January by Peter Watson

ARIES   Mar 21 - Apr 20
Normally, you would like to think of yourself as somebody who tends not to boast about your work or various successes.  You try hard to avoid sounding like a know-all.  Of course some people might see you differently and consider you as being someone who is, in fact, very vocal about what you do and how you do it.  Whichever the case may be you will, from this week onwards, definitely be heard to say quite a lot about your position in the wider world or a project with which you’re involved.  And this is linked to Mercury making its way into Capricorn and stimulating all forms of communication while impacting the most visible and power-packed section of your chart.  There’s no need to tell you to go for it because you will anyway.

TAURUS  Apr 21 – May 21
As soon as you see the opportunity to launch yourself into a busy and challenging area you’ll want to get on with it straight away.  And of course with Jupiter occupying a productive, conscientious section of your chart as it makes is way through Libra you’ll want to do a lot, and you’ll want to do it extremely well.  You may have to make a few compromises this week, however, because Jupiter is being challenged by the Sun.  And that suggests that communications, travel and fairly ordinary routine business might demand so much of you that you’re not able to focus on anything new and exciting.  Be patient.  It will happen.  But first you will have to get the small stuff tidied up so that you’re free to concentrate on something pretty big and exciting.

GEMINI   May 22 - Jun 21
Be on you guard as your ruler Mercury enters Capricorn this week.  As it does so it’s encouraging you to become very proactive in terms of any kind of shared work or responsibility. Initially you may think there’s nothing wrong with that. But one or two individuals  might quietly resent the way you do sometimes take over and run the whole show.  So use Mercury’s move to your advantage and let it help you find the words and the gestures with which to check that people genuinely want you to advise them and instruct them and they’re not just conforming in order to be polite.  This is a great time for you to prove to yourself and others that you’re all sufficiently adult to say what you really mean and mean what you say.

CANCER   Jun 22 - Jul 23
Quite out of the blue you are likely to come up with ideas that are meant to help you and others succeed in an intriguing and possibly challenging area.  And Uranus slowly making its way through a very ambitious section of your chart is urging you to think outside the box and develop themes and schemes that some others might think too unorthodox and unconventional.  You might even find that the person closest to you is dead-set against whatever you have in mind as a result of the Sun falling out with Uranus this week.  You won’t want to do battle with anybody.  Nor should you.  So if you can’t persuade everyone that your ideas are worth pursuing, why not give up?  Some things are worth fighting for but others most certainly are not.

LEO   Jul 24 - Aug 23
Having tried on several occasions to convince a colleague, partner or friend that the two of you should collude with one another in a particular way, you’ve probably grown tired of meeting resistance.  So you’ve given up.  But deep down you must have known that at some point you would, once again, see whether you can persuade whoever else is involved that there’s something special going on between you and that it could be turned to your advantage.  Certainly this week, as Venus connects with Neptune, you’ll feel very strongly that one form of collaboration is meant to be.  Venus will help you analyse the true worth of whatever you have in mind while Neptune will make sure you chase one or two of your dreams which you’ve been forced to abandon up until now.

VIRGO   Aug 24 - Sep 23
While you may feel drawn towards territory in which you can express yourself freely, there will be those who expect you to take a more conventional and grown-up approach to your work and responsibilities. And these VIPs or associates are cramping your style.  But with Jupiter at odds with the Sun this week there’s a danger that you will become rather more angry and resentful than is truly warranted.  And you need to look at the situation from the perspective of those people who need to get the job done as efficiently and economically as possible.  You’d probably be wise to shelve your ingenuity and originality for a short while at least.  And get the ordinary, everyday stuff completed and out of the way as competently as possible.  Then wait to see what happens next.

LIBRA   Sep 24 - Oct 23
Just recently you might have wondered why certain people have been taking very little notice of you while you’ve felt that you’ve been functioning well and that you deserve some recognition what you’ve done.  Hopefully you’ve been patient and you haven’t let your feelings be known because it’s all about to change.  Thursday’s Full Moon is lighting up the most dynamic sector of your chart and it’s bringing you to the attention of people who have some say or sway in your long-term future.  Of course the Full Moon can sometimes make you a little over-emotional.  So you need to do everything possible to remain cool, calm and collected as things begin to unfold in a way that suggests your life is going to be anything but quiet for some while.

SCORPIO   Oct 24 - Nov 22
Much as you might be inclined to pursue a particular dream or ambition for yourself and by yourself, you will be shown some resistance by colleagues or friends who like to be part of whatever you’re doing.  And this might encourage you to be even more innovative and unorthodox than you first intended to be. This is linked to the fact that Uranus is at right angles to the Sun and bringing out that part of you that enjoys giving other people a run for their money.   All of which is fine provided you don’t embark on anything truly risky or ridiculously extravagant.  Nor should you do anything likely to cause a rift or any unpleasantness between yourself and the other people involved.   In other words, know how far to go.

SAGITTARIUS   Nov 23 - Dec 21
For some while you may have wondered whether you and certain others could develop an idea or way of working together that will prove exciting, glamorous and profitable.  And with a Full Moon illuminating the partnerships section of your chart, you’ll find yourself fantasising once more about what you and these individuals might be able to create together.  Yes, you will have to put certain checks and balances in place.  But if you are able to try out something you’ve thought about for a long while then this could be the perfect time to do it.  And even if one or two people get cold feet and want to back off you should think seriously about going solo or recruiting other workmates or supporters.  Sometimes your ideas are too good to abandon out of hand.

CAPRICORN   Dec 22 - Jan 20
Time and again you’ve wanted to persuade employers, colleagues or friends that you’re ready to spearhead something that could be good for everybody concerned?  True, these people are no doubt perfectly right to spell out the possible risks involved but now, with Jupiter hovering over the most ambitious point in your chart, you feel you could change the world overnight if you had to.  What you also have to bear in mind however is the fact that the Sun is squaring up to Jupiter. And the Sun travelling through your sign suggests you’re willing to put yourself in a rather tenuous position simply to prove your point.  This is why the advice of someone who knows you as well as you know yourself could prove invaluable. Talk things through carefully before making the first move.

AQUARIUS   Jan 21 - Feb 19
How have you been able to tolerate the inefficient, muddled thinking or chaotic practices of some of your colleagues or associates?  You’ve no doubt put up with it all because you’ve wanted to get results and you didn’t want to object to their attitude because it might have jeopardised achieving the outcomes you need.  But perhaps you’ve put up with too much.  And Thursday’s Full Moon could bring things to a head. Promise yourself that if you decide to speak your mind you’ll remain respectful, polite and objective,.  Yes, you’ve a right to express any doubts and disappointments that you may have but it mustn’t be seen as a personal attack on those around you.  Don’t let the Full Moon encourage you to go off like a rocket because that will get you nowhere fast.

PISCES   Feb 20 - Mar 20
Do certain others genuinely have something worthwhile to bring to the table or do they intend to feed off whatever you have at your disposal?  With Uranus at odds with the Sun you might find it difficult to imagine wanting to be part of any crowd or group that’s meant to be producing something as a shared enterprise.  And your instincts could tell you that nothing but hassle will come of it.  What you mustn’t do is miss out on the chance to collaborate with these people in a way that could be extremely beneficial.  So explore very thoroughly their talents, experience and ideas. Much of what they have to say may convince you that you should stick with them rather than turn your back on them.  It’s worth making your decision slowly and carefully.
